Smallville Season 11 digital comic book to launch in April, will see print release in May from DC Comics

Smallville Fans Rejoice! New Comic Book Series, SMALLVILLE SEASON 11, to Pick Up Where Show Left Off Fans of the smash-hit TV series Smallville haven’t had much to cheer about since the show ended its critically acclaimed 10-year run on The CW last May.  That’s all going to change with the upcoming new comic book series from DC Entertainment: SMALLVILLE SEASON 11.  Written by former Smallville show scribe Bryan Q. Miller, the new digital first series will be published digitally on April 13, 2012, with new digital chapters released weekly thereafter.  Additionally, the online chapters will be offered in a print periodical, along with an episode guide to the hit television series, with the first print issue released on May 16.
The new comic book series picks-up where the show left off (with Clark officially now as Superman!) and features other fan-favorite characters including Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, Chloe Sullivan-Queen, Lois Lane, Lex Luthor, and General Lane.  The book features an all-star creative team – in addition to Miller, SMALLVILLE SEASON 11 creators include print cover artist Gary Frank (SUPERMAN SECRET ORIGIN), digital cover artist Cat Staggs and interiors by Pere Perez (BATGIRL).
“Six months after Clark Kent donned the cape and took to the skies to save Earth from Apokolips… enter Season 11!” enthuses Miller.  “New allies abound!  New enemies afoot!  And old friends return where they’re least expected!  Pere and colorist Chris Beckett have done a fantastic job of capturing the look of the show and the players, and Gary and Cat are knocking it out of the park on covers. I couldn’t be more excited to help give seasoned viewers and new readers an all-access pass to Clark’s first year in the cape.”

Smallville was a TV series I had an awful love/hate relationship with. Whenever I watch past episodes I question myself; am I really watching this? Each episode in-itself is an experience that unleashes emotion; the stories are often sillier than any super hero comic book on the racks, and the characters are inconsistent with their attitudes & will arbitrarily change if the current episode’s story demands it. If you enjoy clever series TV, it’s truly a frustrating watch.
Bryan Q. Miller wrote episodes of Smallville that were very good while the rest of the series was lackluster. Given the series was a mess the last few years, I commend Miller for writing the best possible scripts considering he was working convoluted storylines and often dimwitted characters the series had established possibly since the beginning. Miller also is responsible for one of the real superhero comic highlights of recent memory: as the writer for the Batgirl comic title starring Stephanie Brown, aka Robin IV aka Spoiler. Pere Perez also drew the final adventures of Steph as Batgirl with Miller, and although I am excited to see this awesome creative team back together, I do wish it was on a real Superman comic book rather than it’s Earth-CW counterpart (by the way DC, where’s the Gossip Girl comic?!)
Smallville is my mistress and I am her mark; whenever she beckons I go to her, knowing well that I won’t have much to gain. Just when I thought I could kick the habit this past year, she returns. This is going to be interesting.

geekchicdaily:

Erica Durance must have a thing for DC Comics characters. Check out Smallville’s Lois Lane dressed up as Wonder Woman for an upcoming episode of Harry’s Law (more photos here: http://bit.ly/sAFNUo). Who do you think looks better in the super-hot superhero outfit - Erica or Adrianne Palicki from NBC’s scrapped Wonder Woman pilot?

I love Loi— I mean Erica, but Great Hera does that costume suck. Too many bad memories…

an-elysian-dream asked: love the new icon. can't believe smallville is over. so sad :(

Only recently did it fully sink in that for the past decade, this show was highly influential in my own life …growing up from a nerdy teenage boy to a nerdy young man.

Glad you enjoyed this show. This was… a difficult show to enjoy, but it sure as hell was fun.

iTunes US currently has each season premier of Smallville up for FREE to download in SD or HD. That’s ten 40-minute episodes featuring live-action versions of DC Comics characters. If you’ve never seen this show, maybe this is the best time to check it out… that, and since the final episode airs this Friday night ;)
