My Favorite Comic Book Covers, #6 in the series.
Amazing Spider-Man #67, cover dated December 1968, by John Romita, Sr.
Mysterio makes Spidey think he’s been shrunk to six inches tall. I think it’s the gradated zip-a-tone screen, that suggests twilight, that makes this so effective, along with the perspective. I was fortunate enough to interview Romita a few years ago, and told him how much I loved this one. He remembered working on it, and it was one of his favorites as well. He’s a very engaging interview, with tons of stories of the Golden and Silver Ages of comics. Wish to crap I’d transcribed the interview before I lost the mini cassette…

Jazzy John Romita still is one of the finest gents in all comics!
